Annual Breast Exam and Pap Smear |
During a woman's annual examination the health care provider will perform a visual and manual examination of her breasts looking for abnormalities. Also each year a woman should have a quick and simple test to detect the presence of abnormal cells in a sample obtained by painless scraping the cervix. This test is called a Pap Smear. By doing Pap tests routinely, it is possible to find evidence of disease years before any visible symptoms are present and before any damage is done. Caught at its early stage, cancer of the cervix can be completely cured. |
